Spring!
Spring is here, its sunny and warm, very nice after all the rain.
A poem that my late friend used to recite at this time of the year:
"Spring has sprung, the grass is ris'
..I wonder where the birdies is ?"
..I wonder where the birdies is ?"
Yes, quite silly, but he was a Corpsman for 20 years,Vietnam vet.
I went out for walk around a pond with my friend Mark from Monaghan and came across these on a trail.
I think I found those snakes that were driven out by Saint Patrick ;)
Later I walked another trail to some wetlands.
Little waterfall streaming from a vernal pool.
I could hear many frogs nearby,
I guess its that time of the year.

Ward Hill Memories
I set off to Ward Hill yesterday afternoon.
A place nearby that I had not visited in a very long time.
Always remembered a night spent in a cabin up here as a boy scout.
I found it, not much left of it, the cabin walls,
and a fallen chimney, looks like it landed
where I had my sleeping bag back then!
I remember the fireplace being the only
source of warmth on a cool Autumn evening.
Looking up Ward Hill, a Ranger tower in the distance.
I remember walking the hill at night with flashlight in hand.
Top of a Ward Hill looking north, the tower behind me.
This is called Solstice Stones which I do not remember.
Will have to follow this trail when the good weather returns :)

New Reservations
Keck Reservation
Taft Reservation
Feathers floating on the water here, there must have been a crane or heron around earlier. I did see a red squirrel and a chipmunk but did not catch them with the camera.
Sunday went to Sunset Rock, Pustell and Purdon Reservations, not much to write home about, the second one had confusing signs and unclear trails. I took a few photos though.
Interesting pattern on a pine tree.
Pine tree hollow.
Sunset Rock .. or smiling stone dinosaur ? ;)
Prints in the clay by a stream.
